Lake Lucerne Institute (LLUI) focusing on new training programmes in neurorehabilitation

Collaborating partners

The Lake Lucerne Institute is a private research and education institute that is active in the areas of « Health » and « Wealth ». The Wealth division works closely with the cereneo clinics as a practical platform for research and education: Patients from cereneo take part in research projects and LLUI students gain insights into the practical work of neurorehabilitation on patients.

Various departments for neurorehabilitation

The « Health » department currently consists of several research groups, which can be divided into three subject areas: The Centre for « Neurotraining » is working on new methods for measuring movement disorders, training and feedback/reward during movement therapy. This often involves the use of new technologies, which are developed independently or together with external strategic partners. The Centre for “Neuronutrition” focuses on the investigation of taste and odour deficits in population groups with neurological diseases, the impact of these deficits on food intake and the extent to which genetic variations influence these aspects. The research groups in the field of « Neuronutrition » also want to expand the knowledge of the pathology of taste and odour deficits and find out whether effective rehabilitation protocols can be developed accordingly. The Centre for “Neuropsychology” is involved in studies investigating neuroplasticity and neuropsychological symptoms in patients undergoing neurorehabilitation. The research includes neuropsychological, psychopharmacological and physiological aspects.

Higher education programmes at the LLUI

The LLUI plans to offer a highly specialised Master’s degree programme in the field of neurorehabilitation. The institute is also developing training and further education modules to ensure the transfer of knowledge from research to clinical practice.

The collaboration between LLUI and cereneo clinics reflects the motto « theoria cum praxi » and aims to bring science and teaching as close as possible to everyday practice, for the benefit of patients and society.
