From the clinic: Training the brain to improve cognition

Neuropsychology bridges the gap between the physical brain and its functions—emotional and cognitive. Unlike neurologists, who focus on the brain’s health, neuropsychologists delve into the complexities of how the brain’s functioning affects our behaviors, thoughts, and feelings. Our work focuses on enhancing cognitive and emotional processes of patients struggling from neurological conditions such as stroke, Parkinson, MS, TBI etc.

Neuropsychology team at cereneo

A part of our daily routine is performing assessments and evaluations, a crucial step to understanding the patient’s condition.

At cereneo a central part of our work is the collaboration and communication within our multidisciplinary team, where we share insights and updates about all patients, ensuring that every member of the therapy team is aligned and informed. This comprehensive approach allows us to customize cognitive rehabilitation therapies with the utmost precision to the needs of our patients.

A memorable moment

One of the most unforgettable experiences for our neuropsychologist Lucas involved a patient who was close to a minimally conscious state. On the surface, it appeared as though he was unable to recognize, respond, or express anything. Since religion plays an important role in the patient’s culture, we decided to integrate praying into our therapy sessions. The moment we began to pray, something remarkable happened. The patient, who until then had been minimally responsive, began to join in the prayer. Words flowed from him that had seemed impossible just moments before. It was as if the familiar rhythm of the prayer had bridged a gap into his consciousness. This underlined the importance of personalizing our approaches and looking beyond conventional methods.

The toolset

Our approach to patient care is both systematic and deeply personalized. We apply standardized protocols as a foundation, enabling us to establish a starting point to outline the best treatment plan. With this as a basis we adjust to the patient’s individual needs and circumstances.

Online Therapy

Cognitive therapy can be successfully carried out online. This opens the doors to accessibility and convenience, allowing patients to receive therapy in the comfort of their own homes worldwide.
