Faces at cereneo – meet Milijana from our Nursing Team

Milijana Vasiljevic has been working for cereneo as a nursing specialist since 2015. In addition to her role as deputy team leader in nursing, Milijana is responsible for supervising the FAGE trainees (a 3-year-dual training to become a health care professional).

As a long-time caregiver at cereneo, how do you perceive the last 10 years?

A lot has changed, and time went by so quickly. Since I started at cereneo in 2015, we have grown enormously, and with each year, we have become more professional. Especially with the second clinic in Hertenstein, we have gained many more possibilities in care and nursing, but also in therapy. We have changed for the better on so many levels, especially with the possibility of accompanying patients beyond their stay in the clinic, including at home or with telerehabilitation via digital channels.

What is the biggest challenge for you and your team in your daily work?

Our international clientele requires us to constantly adapt to each patient and their social environment. Our patients are often accompanied by family members who are involved in the entire rehabilitation process and all related decisions from the very beginning. This requires a great deal of sensitivity. With each new patient, the situation is different and presents us with new challenges.

What do you see as cereneo’s strengths?

One of cereneo’s biggest strengths is the range of therapeutic options available in our clinics. Beyond that patients can continue their therapy or consultations via digital channels relying on the familiar network of cereneo experts. Thanks to our size, we have very short communication channels, which allows for quick decision-making whenever neededfor the well-being of our patients.

One of cereneo’s values is “innovation” – where do you encounter this in your day-to-day work at the clinic?

We have a variety of innovative therapy devices, such as the CAREN in Vitznau, which allows us to offer our patients a wide range of therapy options. In the nursing team, we work evidence-based, using various positioning techniques or special neurorehabilitative care measures. We also frequently consult the results of new studies, which are quickly reviewed and applied, if they show proof to improve the rehabilitation of our patients.

What makes working at cereneo special for you? Because of your training, you spent some time in another clinic. What made you come back to cereneo?

From 2017 to 2019, I was at the Hospital of Lucerne for the advanced training. After graduating as a certified nurse, I came back to cereneo for several reasons. On the one hand, I enjoy working in the field of neurorehabilitation, and on the other hand, I feel very comfortable in the team at cereneo. We are a small and tight-knit team and our interprofessional teamwork is great. We work goal-oriented and continuously coordinate our efforts, always keeping the patient’s well-being in the foreground. I have missed that very much.
